Psychiatrist
A Midwesterner in origin, I completed an undergraduate degree in philosophy and then spent 3 years abroad studying, working and volunteering during and after my undergraduate studies. During a year volunteering in India, I became deeply interested in Eastern religions and returned to the US to complete a master’s degree in religious studies, focused on Buddhist studies. I was inspired by the application of Buddhism in psychology and medicine and decided to pursue a medical degree at University of California, San Diego, with the goal of bringing ancient wisdom into modern clinical practice. While in medical school, I led the integrative and alternative student interest group at UCSD, and studied with/shadowed many healers of different alternative and complementary practices.
During my psychiatry residency at University of California, San Francisco, I took a particular interest in women’s mental health, PTSD, and integrative psychiatry. Seeking to deepen my psychotherapeutic skills, I completed a two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy program at SFCP and multiple year-long trainings at the Jungian Institute. My commitment to integrative medicine also led me to spend four years training in Five Element Acupuncture with Khosrow Khalighi, as well as completing the MAPS training for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. After residency, I completed a fellowship in Integrative Reproductive Psychiatry.
In addition to the clinically rich learning and training environment of the UCSF residency program, during and after residency I gained additional training in multiple settings which gave me a wide variety of psychiatric skills working with a complex array of issues.
